A small record-keeping habit can save time when returning a product, making a warranty claim or checking a recurring charge.

Keep the key documents

Receipt/order confirmation, seller identity, product model and warranty are the core record set.

Store searchable copies

A consistent folder name by year or product category makes old purchases easier to find.

Keep serial numbers for durable goods

Photos of labels can be easier to retrieve than the original packaging.

Review before deleting

Some products have multi-year warranties or service lives, so the receipt may remain useful long after the return window ends.
