Refurbished, open-box and used products: what to compare

Condition labels are not standardized enough to stand alone; the value depends on testing, included parts, warranty and return options.

Define the condition

Ask what was inspected, repaired or replaced and whether cosmetic wear is graded.

Check what is included

Missing accessories, packaging or consumables can erase part of the discount.

Compare warranty and returns

Coverage on refurbished or used products may differ from new products.

Compare against the real new price

Use the current normal selling price, not an inflated reference price, when judging the discount.
